Will Comcast rollout the 2.0.0 receiver native version to all boxes? I'm still on 1.3.4 but do have the new 1.48.07 xre version. Will both be updated at some point?

Terri,

There are two softwares in each box.  One is the XRE which is 1.48.xx as an example.

The other is te Receiver Native Veersion, which is 1.3.4 as a example.

The new Receiver is 2.0.0.

I know your reply is to terri but I am actually on 2.8.0. I think that is what terri meant in her reply.

the 2.80 is your xre protocol not native (see 'receiver: native version: 1.3.4 for example on mine)

I am sorry, your right. apparantly there are 3 softwares involved here. mine are:

1. xre server 1.48

2. xre protocal of 2.8.0

3. native version 1.3.4

I thought the protocol was the firmware, my bad....

hopefully one of the comcast reps replies in the next few days on this overlay issue becuase it is very distracting!

that guide not available stopped appearing here no change in versions. Some server in comcast land must have been doing the message incorrectly.

no change in versions or firmware and now the 'fix' for slowmo (pressing play in slomo would go back to still (good) and not play (bad) changed to old behavior that is you press play in slomo it does not revert to still yet again.

In reply or acknowledgment of Rustybens statement about slow motion and frame by frame advance-----Totally agree with your suggestions. It has been really frustrating watching sports with the way slo mo works and the lack of frame by frame advance. The large play triangle is also annoying.....and why does it have to be at the bottom of the screen. Almost every game televised has the score or bottom line running at the bottom of the screen and thats is where the annoying play/progress bar is and blocks what i really want to see. Pushing the up arrow to get rid of it is sluggish a pain to have to keep pushing to clear every time i fast or slow forward something. Come on comcast, we have been waiting a long time for you to fix these requests.

OK, so here's what I've seen different in 1.48 on an RNG150...

Sports app no longer blanks screen when opening

Guide populates faster while scrolling

No more day +/- text at the top of the guide

Last 9 looks different, seems to open faster

Channel changing is faster, and the info bar at the bottom shows up immediately now.

Faster Menu Navigation item in Comcast Labs is gone

However after closing the Sports app, the box becomes slow as heck and then crashes, so that's not good.

Where the heck is Comcast with an update on the forthcoming updates? This is seriously pathetic. I still have to spend 5 minutes in the menus every time I turn on my TV to get the resolutions reset to 1080 and displaying full screen on my Samsung. HURRY UP!!

just posted separate thread on CC (closed caption) failing to start when 'ON" upon changing channel/recordings to view.

Temp fix: toggle off then back on.

someone pointed out new feature in preferences > device settings > sync DVR

CC stays on even after changing channels for me.

I don't see 'Sync DVR', but I don't have DVR service.

If I understood it right, it syncs recordings you set with Companion boxes with the main X1 DVR. I noticed that function on my Companion box yesterday, but it disappeared today.

this sounds like a HUGE feature!! if i understand it correctly, I will no longer need to worry about reprogramming all of my scheduled programs with this new X1 feature. that takes so long and was one of the barriers to getting the X1 originally because i did not want to start over with the scheduled programs.

Andrew? Am I understanding the power of this feature?

That sounds like a good feature.  Now, if there was some way to repopulate Saved Recordings when a DVR has to be replaced ......

your scheduled recordings (priority list) are in the cloud now (on comcast servers). only local recordings and bootup info is stored on your local drives along with 'next' action to be done locally (for example: record chan xx at XX:XX for xx minutes). the comast servers send out instructions to each DVR as needed.

you really have the best idea there. many if not most programs people record are originally broadcast over the air so their 'setting' is copy freely. For others generally the security allows moving between DVRs on same account on same 'premises'. I note that the cloud DVR does this function as 'checking out' to a device via a download making the original not available until the device copy is returned.

It seems to me to be quite easy in multiple DVR homes or by activation of the Esata port as a backup a no-brainer backup feature to store a customer inaccessable backup on spare space on orther DVRs in home and on eSATA devices for purpose of restoring in case of equipment upgrade or replacement due to failure. No restricted content would be allowed this backup process (like linear HBO) perhaps.

Andrew, now that makes me angry. When our legacy box 'fried' we lost dozens of recordings and when I went to the Comcast office they convinced me to get the X1 so that if the box went belly up again we would not lose our recordings. They were very clear that the recordings were saved to the cloud and would download to the X1 box if we ever had to replace it.  That and the ability to record 4 shows were the two main reasons we converted to X1. Will 'lost' recordings ever be able to be downloaded from the cloud to the DVR?

I have no way to know if a recording will ever be able to be downloaded from the cloud. Right now when it gets swapped out only the schedule stays intact.

Yes, but only from mobile devices or computers. Because recordings are still saved on the hard drive, you will not be able to watch your old recordings on the TV."

148.07 seems to have fixed the manual recording bug (setting one for 'today' actually set it in an example to wednesday. Manual recordings seem to be working again.

Thanks Andrew, I have no choice but to accept and understand that I will still lose recordings if the box has to be replaced. I can still see the smile on the face of the Comcast Rep when she told me I would never have to worry about losing my recordings again. She seemed so pleased to let me know that and of course I was thrilled as we record so much. I know I can use On Demand to catch up but I would have to keep constant track manually of whats on the DVR just in case.  Also many of the movies and shows I have recorded are not On Demand. I still have some from the 'fried' box that I cannot find to record again. This is my issue so I will stop whining (for now...lol).

We never view recordings on other devices. Watching movies/shows on a tiny screen is something I still don't 'GET'. I thought bigger was better and don't even like watching shows on the computer and I have a large monitor. Its just not comfortable to sit in an office like chair and watch a show/movie. I understand the usefullness of watching recorded things on a device if you travel, etc but that is not my situation.

for around 50% so far and growing it is true, actually, if the customer has cloud dvr service. Wish they would move a bit faster to getting it for the rest of us.

Well said Terri!!!

Considering that X1 upgrades, updates, fixes and improvements continue to arrive at a snail's pace, I don't think X1 will EVER fulfill it's true and full potential. I truly believe that Comcast is developing X1 on a shoestring budget (I am sure Comcast will come back and say they are spending a fortune on X1) and they will never throw the necessary time, money and resources at X1 to do it right. I expect the pace of updates and upgrades to X1 to slow down even further. I have no doubt that Comcast placed further budget restrictions on X1.

That being said, last week my GF and and I decided to stay with X1. Comcast recently renegotiated our channel package. It works for us. It does what we need it to do. It has been reliable. We could care a less about reminders, PIP and adjustable guide font size. We like the guide (yes we actually do), we like being able to records as many programs as we wish at the same time and we like Whole House DVR.

We discussed legacy DVRs, TiVo and satellite. For us, satellite is a problem because the dish would need to be clearly visible on the front of our house and we don't want that. It would be nearly impossible for us to conceal the dish.

Regardless, as X1 continues to limp along and not fulfill what it truly could and should be, it does enough well that we decided to stay with it. Besides, I will probably be a Charter customer sometime this year so who knows what the heck is going to happen...

:
what does this feature do? sync DVR with what?
___________________
It's for syncing the dvr schedule after a dvr has been swapped out. More for a tech than customer
That sounds like a good feature. Now, if there was some way to repopulate Saved Recordings when a DVR has to be replaced ......

Hi All --

To clear up the confusion: After a box swap, the "Sync DVR" feature restores the DVR's list of scheduled recordings to your new DVR, not missing recordings. This will not allow you to, after a box swap, sync your new box with the cloud and re-download your old recordings from your old box.

Thanks! Gwen

i think it is not a huge deal because this means the program is beginning recording 40 seconds early. Maybe I am missing something or misunderstanding but I can't imagine why a recording starting 40 seconds early really matters. does it?

It also means the recordings end 40 seconds early. Combine that with the networks being so loose with their start/stop times, I have to set every recording to run 1 minute longer. It's something I haven't and shouldn't have to do.

Hi all.  To give some insight on this clock conversation, the front-panel gets it’s time from the local head end your house is connected to.  The guide/user interface gets it from a central time server in the cloud.  The guide/UI clock is updated periodically, not instantaneously, since it is server-based. The DVR recordings start/stop on-time (not early, not late), even if the guide time is slightly different.  When you see a recording "end early" and need to add a minute, this is due to the way networks schedule their time slots and has nothing to do with either the front panel or UI clocks.

That still doesn't change that I have to add a minute to every recording because otherwise I lose the last minute of the show.

Andrew or Gwen or any other comcast employee? I just checked my device settings menu and I don't have that new sync option. I don't need it right this moment since I'm not swapping out a box. Just curious why my menu doesn't have it. Is it because the cloud services are not in my area? Or is it because I'm on 1.3.4 firmware? Fyi server is 1.48.07 on my device

I'm on same version as you are using. that 'sync' is under my gear(settings)>device settings>Sync DVR between device lights and restart this device. Are you 'on' the DVR when looking for that option?

hmmm, strange. I am on my only x1 box and I definitely don't have that option. do you have cloud services in your area? I am thinking since I don't have cloud yet then that would be why I don't have this option. however, if you don't have cloud then that would not explain this...

I wouldn't worry too much about it.Right now it's disappeared off mine as well. Usually happens when updates are happening, things get added, things disappear

Aint' that the truth!!!  I just noticed last night that the Re-Synch isin the menu on the XG1v3, (running the latest 2.0) but it is not showing on my XG1-A (running the 1.3.4)....

Just throwing this out for anyone else who may also have 2 different flavors of DVRs out there...

Hi Everyone,

Below you will find the key January updates to X1:

Improvements That Simplify the User Experience: http://corporate.comcast.com/comcast-voices/new-this-month-on-x1-improvements-that-simplify-the-user...

The following updates are in addition to the features outlined in the blog post:

1. DVR MinData - Allows for the playback of completed recordings in the event that services are down for any reason.

2. DVR Refresh Schedule - If a user requires a DVR box swap, this allows your list of scheduled recordings to immediately be restored to your new DVR (this will not restore your old completed recordings to your new dvr).

3. Spanish language programs are now tagged with an ESP indicator in search results

Who is lucky enough to have this? What voice control? Remote App? Are we saying you have to have a phone or tablet app to have voice control rather than it being built into the remote and box interface? Boo Hiss on that.

"Voice Improvements

We’ve spruced up the user interface for voice control interactions via X1 Remote app. On-screen notifications displayed during voice commands have a new design that includes a blue mic icon, the universal symbol of voice control on X1."

Terri -

there is absolutely no luck involved in getting this! It is a free app and I have it and absolutely love it. You should give it a try!
