TCL TV Control with XR15 Remote

TCL TV Control with XR15 Remote

I have the new XR15 remote.  The codes provided will not control my new tv. It is a 4k UHD HDR TV, 65”.  Comcast tech is coming out next week to see what is wrong. Controls regular items one would expect.  Does control my Sony receiver.  Would love to get codes for controlling power on/off for my tv.  Anyone seen a similar issue.

Re: TCL TV Control with XR15 Remote

The published codes are wrong. I advised the xfinity tech rep that the working number is 11756. This one works. The xfinity codes do not.

use set up code 991 then press the up channel button over and over until the TV turns off. then press the set up button to store that 'found' code. Did it work and you can adjust the volume on the TV?

Re: TCL TV Control with XR15 Remote

First: the XR15 remote that I received 2-26-18 with a new Comcast box HAS NO SETUP BUTTON.  So all ionstructions which refer to a setup button are useless including the on screen instructions you are directed to during the initial paring setup.  A google search provided the solution:  press the XFINITY BUTON AND THE INFO BUTTON AT THE SAME TIME AND HOLD TILL RED LIGHT TURNS TO GREEN. Then proceed to enter the paring code shown.  This worked for me to pair the remote to the box.  Neither the instructions with the remote or the onscreen instructions mentioned using the Xfinity & Info buttons for setup.

However, none of the codes given on screen or on Comcast help sites will control my Sony Bravia TV.

This is a sad affair!  Comcast traded a remote (the old silver one) that worked for my TV for a voice operated one that does not.

Surely there is a technical solution to this as I'm not the only Comcast customer with a Sony TV.

It's really disturbing that the instructions that come with the XR-15 do not mention that the Xfinity and Info buttons must be used to pair the remote to the box.  Come on Comcast, you can do better than this and eliminate customer frustration, complaints and support calls.  All a waste of time for everyone!

The directions that come with the remote explains how to get to the setup.  I use the old remote and the new remote with my two 4K DVR's.
