On a related topic, if I get the X1 platform can I still use the digital box on a small tv I have in a bathroom?

The only boxes you can keep after upgrading to X1 is the small adapter boxes. They are the cheaper boxes that do not do on-demand or recordings. I hope that answers your question.

or you can get an xg2 or xi3 or xid (depending on if you need coax cable(xiD) to the small TV or HDMI only (xi3).
