I have been told that the NHL Center Ice HD (Beta) is now operational and available for qualified customers. Qualified customers are XFINITY X1 customers with an NHL Center Ice subscription and an XFINITY TV package that includes HD service.

NHL Center Ice HD Beta Trial


As part of the NHL Center Ice experience, we continue to trial a new NHL Center Ice feature.

XFINITY X1 customers with an NHL Center Ice subscription and an XFINITY TV package that includes HD service will be able to watch all of the games in HD starting a week into the regular season.

 

We plan to launch the NHL Center Ice HD feature across the Comcast footprint in the future.

Please note that there is no additional charge for eligible customers and no action is required to receive this feature.

The NHL Center Ice HD (Beta) channel is the first NHL Center Ice listing in the X1 guide above the current NHL Center Ice SD channels.Or using the X1 voice remote control, hold down the blue microphone button and say "NHL Center Ice" and then select NHL Center Ice HD.  

 

Note: At this time, the NHL Center Ice HD (Beta) listing will not be associated with a channel number because this feature is in trial. This means that customers will not see a channel number in the X1 guide and therefore cannot tune to this channel by entering a channel number, as one does not exist.

During the trial, the following functionality will not be supported on the new NHL Center Ice HD channel:

•Recording
•Pause

This is a temporary experience for our customers. We are working on improving this experience and are working to provide this functionality in the near future. Rewinding is now supported.

you need to tell you customer service reps about this feature.. our NHL Center Ice is showing a message that you account is updating and this feature will be available soon.. Spent over an hour on the phone with them and they are still trying to get our channels 771- etc to work but they are clueless to the beta trail.. I found info on this forum and then tried our on demand and bingo.. there is Center Ice.. Very frustrating afternoon with comcast.. ( plus I was blind transferd 2-3 times while on the call)

Apologies for the issue and the experience that you described above. Glad that you were able to locate the information on NHL Center Ice HD (Beta) here.

 

The issue with your account updating may be unrelated and likely still needs additional attention. I do see an open ticket for this on your account from earlier today and someone is expected to reach out to you soon on that.

 

Apologies that you were transferred so many times and apologies that the agents that you spoke with did not have the most accurate information. I will look into all of those things.

Thanks for finally clearing this up - I will look forward to the HD Beta start next week. 

 

I literally called Comcast 4 times since the season began asking about this - no one had any clue about this HD Beta - two thought all games were in HD currently, one thought I needed to buy another package, one (who did quickly help me get past the Subscription Updating screen) admitted she had no idea.

2nd week of the season and I’m still not seeing all of the games available in HD. When can we expect all games in HD?

So for everyone who is watching this thread, I just spent 90 minutes on chat with Comcast and 3 representatives.  The 3rd representative finally understood the issue and she restarted my device so it would update.  I am now able to get all teh games in HD.  Not a very good process Comcast.  Most Rep's have no idea what this package is and I have spent most of my time explaining what the package is.  Serious training issues.

That doesn't work for me. I can say "NHL center ice" and bring up the screen where it says HD channels. I can even pick it.  That brings up a list of NHL teams to watch in HD. No matter what I pick, nothing happens at all. I'm watching the devils vs capitals in low def. if I pick HD for either team, the channel never changes. It's like I never clicked on it.  Really comcast??!!

I'm in the exact same boat. I can make my way to the Beta app/channel without issue, but nothing happens when I click on a team -- regardless of if they're playing at the time, or not.

 

I need the games in HD as part of my job. When, XFINITY, are all the games going to be broadcast in HD? It doesnt matter to me if there's an app or not -- I just need the games in HD.

For me that was happening as well.  What worked for me was refreshing the box.  I did it myself with the remote in apps.  And it worked, immediately

Is this only available in certain areas . I live in Michigan I have X1 and the HD package . I signed up for NHL center ice and I still don’t see the beta version. Please tell me it’s available . Hockey needs to be HD !

It is "OTTAWA Senators" ... NOT  "Ottowa Senators"   ... the spelling has been wrong for two years.  Who does the quality control?

Which is it?  Are we able to watch "all of the games in HD"" Or just two given that we only have two HD capable channels?

How come - there is a delay of up to a minute between the regular view of a game and the had beta view?  The had beta view is up to a minute behind the regular center ice view.

Tonight I went to watch the Canucks game on my TiVo on the one HD channel in my area, 456. It is saying I’m not authorized to view the channel any more. I checked the Xfinity Stream TV app, and it’s still working there as is the beta channel, so my Center Ice subscription is still active. Does this have something to do with the ongoing beta? I’d like to be able to watch on my TiVo Bolt.

There is a problem with the audio on the Golden Knights feed in Center Ice HD beta. There is no audio. I live in Dayton, IN

Why even after I received the e-mail yesterday can I still not access the NHL CENTER ICE HD BETA?

 

I keep getting error code XRE-03090 and can’ find anyone at Comcast to resolve this.

Ted, 

 

I have to preface this e-mail by saying that I am beyond aggravated and completely disatisfied with the service Comcast provides for NHL Center Ice. First, in October I get the run around that I cannot watch NHL Center Ice in HD, becuase you guys were running a beta program. WHich by the way, is the same program and excuse that was trotted out the past year as well.... Second, if I want to watch a live game in HD, I have to dedicate 2.5-3 hours and sit in front of the TV to watch the game live, because it will otherwise not record in HD, which is absurd given the fact that it is 2018. Third, I cannot record, rewind, fast forward while I am watching the game on the HD channel. When is the "Beta program" going to be fixed? My guess is that it won't...

 

The past five games that I have watched on NHL Center Ice, the audio of the game has been in Spanish. The SAP button is not on, and I have been on the phone with customer service the past hour and a half with three different agents: Ceaser, Linda, and now Renee, and none of them can fix the audio, and all three have told me to do the same thing, and NOTHING WORKS. Why is it that the audio for the game is in Spanish, yet when it is intermission, the audio is in English?

 

This is beyond garbage, and what do I have to do in order to fix this problem? Leave Comcast  altogether and go back to DirecTV where I NEVER had a problem with being able to record hockey games in HD, watching games, or watching the home teams on HD. It is January 12, 2018, and half of the season is already over, and I have had enough. 

 

I either want a full refund for my service that I had to pay for to get this garbage, non-existant service, or you can consider this my official termination from Comcast. I have had nothing but trouble since day  one. You should be ashamed at the lack of quality programming you provide your customers. There is no reason that my wife and I should be on the phone for hours on end, ROUTINELY, trying to fix this companies errors. All your agents are able to say is that. "Oh there must be an issue in your area" Well that might be the case, once or twice, but not the tried and true excuse they drag out every single time they do not know how to fix the issue....

 

I have tried to PM you, but apparently, the system keeps preventing me from doing so, so I have to voice my complaint here...

This is beyond garbage, and what do I have to do in order to fix this problem? Leave Comcast  altogether and go back to DirecTV where I NEVER had a problem with being able to record hockey games in HD, watching games, or watching the home teams on HD. It is January 12, 2018, and half of the season is already over, and I have had enough. 

 

I either want a full refund for my service that I had to pay for to get this garbage, non-existant service, or you can consider this my official termination from Comcast. I have had nothing but trouble since day  one. You should be ashamed at the lack of quality programming you provide your customers. There is no reason that my wife and I should be on the phone for hours on end, ROUTINELY, trying to fix this companies errors. All your agents are able to say is that. "Oh there must be an issue in your area" Well that might be the case, once or twice, but not the tried and true excuse they drag out every single time they do not know how to fix the issue....

 

I have tried to PM you, but apparently, the system keeps preventing me from doing so, so I have to voice my complaint here...

I have asked our teams to monitor Chicago Black Hawks games on the NHL Center Ice package (beta) to see if they can reproduce the issue.

From what you described, that does sound like it could be an SAP issue (Secondary Audio Program). That could be coming from the TV set, the cable box or coming directly from the source.

 

We will attempt to reproduce in our test environment and see what we can find out.

 

To quickly eliminate the TV set and the cable box as possible source of these issues, please see the below and be sure that the cable box is not set to SAP audio., https://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/cable-tv/x1-audio-output/

If the above does not help, look at the remote control for your TV set (not your cable box) to adjust the TVs language settings (sometimes labeled as MTS or SAP on the remote or via your TVs settings menu).

 

The NHL Center Ice package is labeled as a beta. Our teams continue to explore the best way to deliver these games to our customers and we anticipate continued improvements to this service.

Same issue here. NJ Devils games have not worked for over a week now. Looks like it's loading but then it's just a black screen and never starts.

Have you continued to have this issue? Have you been able to check the SAP settings on the cable box (and your TV set) as described above and/or also on your TV set? Our team did some extensive testing and review to determine that the Chicago Black Hawks feeds/streams originating from the source are available in English and Spanish and have confirmed that English is the primary audio feed.

 

The Spanish audio and the English audio are on separate audio tracks. If Spanish is selected (in this case, if the SAP is on) and if a portion of the broadcast does not have a Spanish audio feed available (as in a commercial or local in-studio segment) then the source will either have no audio on that segment or they may include English (instead of no audio).

 

That is likely the explanation for the issue that you have been experiencing. Please let me know if you are able to check the SAP setting and if this issue is continuing to occur.
