You can't connect a fax to a computer modem.  It needs a real phone line.  if you don't have a landline from the local phone company or Comcast Digital Voice in the home, you can't use the fax.

It needs a analog phone port for the fax to function.  If you do have a landline in the house, you plug in the phone cord from the fax to the phone jack to send and receive faxes.

If you want to fax over the internet, then you need to subscribe to a fax service that offers internet faxing, and you would not be using your fax part of your all in one printer.
