Switch Verizon landline phone to Comcast service.

I have a landline Verizon phone and a modem Comcast phone. I would like to switch my landline(Verizon) to the Comcast service, but need it to run through the wall jacks (alarm system is connected to this).

Plus I would like to keep my Verizon number which I have had for awhile,on top of this the Verizon number is an unlisted number and would like to keep it that way. I do not need two lines therefore do not need the Comcast number.

Is this possible? And if so, what would I need to do?

Due to security and verbal authorizations that are required for porting phone numbers, you will need to call customer care for CDV and tell them you want to change your Comcast phone number and port over your Verizon phone number in its place and that you want it to be unlisted.

Please let me know if you require more assistance.

Thank You

Re: Switch Verizon landline phone to Comcast servi

I just did this last night--switched from Verzon to comcast phone service.  Now I am getting cold feet.  I have a security system, and the verizon phone works through a jack in the wall.  Will my security system work with comcast?  Should I switch back?  I was not asked this question (about a wall jack or security system) by the representative who sold me this at comcast.

I have an Alarm system that was previouisly on at&t.... I changed to Comcast VOIP and it has worked from day one.....  you should be ok with Comcast as lng as you "backfeed" your internal phone wiring ( which you can do by coming out of the TEL1 jack on the modem/gateway and pluggin the other end into an unused phone jack ).   This in effect takes all of your internal phone jacks into the Comcast modem ( as long as your ionternal phone wiring was installed correctly and you have no internal wiring issues ).

If that doesn' work, you can always have a low voltafge tech run a 2 pair wire to the Alarm and back to your first working jack.....
