xfinity player skipping ahead

xfinity player skipping ahead

I'm using the xfinity player within both IE9 and Firefox 7 on a PC running Windows 7. Recently while watching episodes of The Sopranos or Big Love the playback will skip ahead a few seconds. It looks like fast-forward or something. The issue always happens in the same places of each episode. In past weeks I have had no issues and have made no changes to the configuration or software on my PC. I have tried reinstalling the Silverlight program and both browsers.

Anyone else have this problem? Any insight? Thanks.

Can you send me the links of the specific Sopranos and Big Love episodes that you are referring to and tell me at what point in the video is it skipping? I would like to further investigate this problem.

Thanks,

Re: xfinity player skipping ahead

Here is one I was watching just a few moments ago:

http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/tv/The-Sopranos/1975/1180379324/The-Sopranos-28-%28HBO%29/videos

I watched the elapsed time when it began to skip (just over three minutes in) and it acts as if I am fast-forwarding. Very odd.

I noticed that the same episodes seem to lose the problem hours later or the next day. For example, two Sopranos episodes from the first season which were skipping yesterday played fine today. There may be no rhyme or reason to it, and the issue can be quite annoying as I am trying to watch them in order.

Thank you for your reply and assistance.

Re: xfinity player skipping ahead

mordraid2,

In this particular episode, the show rewinds on purpose about three mintues in. This is from the plot summary:

"When Carmela asks what happens, he states "Uncle Ben" and the scene rewinds to Tony greeting Meadow and her new boyfriend"

Other than that, I had no issues with episode 28. Do you have any other examples I can test?

Thanks,
Joe

Re: xfinity player skipping ahead

Of course I do realize that the episode has that aspect. I was not referring to the built-in 'rewind', but before and after that it did skip ahead very quickly. Sometimes a few seconds and sometimes half a minute.

The same thing happened with Big Love, during episodes 8 and 9 of season 2.

If you watched episode 28 of the Sopranos with no issues, the problem must be with some aspect of my machine. I will keep looking.

Thank you for taking a look at this.
