watch tv online on laptop on flight

watch tv online on laptop on flight

I have a few questions, i am going on vacation to Florida, and I would like to bring my laptop to watch shows on the flight. What do I need to do that? Do I need to download movies on my laptop? The flight is going to have wifi. Can I just log on to my account and watch the available shows, or do need to set something up? Can I watch movies on the account? Should I set up the new in home experience so I can watch live channels? Please advise

Don't even think of trying to stream on a flight. Inflight WiFi is barely above dial-up speeds. Many deliberately block most streaming services.

The Xfinity Tv GO App is not available for laptops ( Microsoft O/S ) but it is available for tablets and smartphones...  I personally download movies to a Kindle Fire HD and watch them when I am traveling/fishing without access to cable...

Re: watch tv online on laptop on flight

So even if I can  access the xfinity website I may not be able to watch what is available because of the inflight Wifi?

I am able to access shows at work (which I shouldn't) but maybe thats because a have a direct connection to the internet, and when I am on the plane I will not be using the X1 Wifi connection.

Will a good portable wifi hotspot fix the problem?

If the wifi is working on flight couldn't I just watch my DVR recodings on flight if I set up the home experience?

As @andyross explained, many airlines "block" streaming services from running onboard flights and those that don't do not offer enough bandwidth that you would need to successfully stream the selection.....
