voice control on x1 remote

My remote suddenly stopped working this morning except to turn the tv on and off. It has fresh batteries in it so that's not the problem. I figured out how to reset it and was able to re-pair it with my tv and my receiver but i can't get it to re-pair with the cable box. The only thing that doesn't work is the voice control. When i try to use voice control it takes me to the inn screen set up instructions. When i follow the instructions nothing happens. I have tried powering off the remote by removing and replacing the batteries. I have not tried powering off the cable box. Any advice?

either reboot the set top box or re-pair the remote to the set top box (press setup on remote until remote's LED changes to green, then press the Xfinity button and type the 3 numbers displayed).
