online program guide

My online tv programming guide has been out for two days now and is still not working.  Message is "Something went wrong.  We're working to fix it as fast as possible.  Try again later"

Two days seems long for a webpage to be down for a company this large.  When can we look forward to having this fixed?

Me too in zip 18969.  The online programs guide [tv-listings] went poof!

Re: online program guide

wait until you see the new guide. The WORST system ever created. Not being able to see the guide at all was a better choice than this new disaster

My experiences & observations tell me that Comcast is using paying customers as unpaid beta testers Smiley Sad     This flies in the face of capitalist ventures taking risks for the rewards ... but is totally in sync with "Socialism for the rich and capitalism for everyone else"

Re: online program guide

Does anyone have channel numbers on their guide? I don't have any.

It looks like thye moved as the worst features of the TV guide to the internet guide. Worst of all they removed the filter for favorite channels.

Re: online program guide

They don't have a way for us to select favorite channels. They have managed to make it impossible to view future time periods/days and schedule a program to be recorded. In fact, I can't figure out how to select any program to be recorded. Is it possible that there are people living somewhere who are stupider than Comcast?

I agree.  Will probably change providers now.

Re: online program guide

Try zap2it.com as the solution for online tv-listings.   It does the HD and FAVS along with color markers

And they took away the watchlist, so if you did like I do and save all your shows in the watchlist to access from your PC or Laptop @ work, you have to manually hunt them down.

Re: online program guide

I was trying to find the filter for Favorites so I came to this forum but I see that I am not the only one who noticed it is gone. I liked the old guide so much better. You could filter for favorites and see a longer time and more channels at one time. This new guide is awful!!!!

Sigh! They don't even tell their own service reps what's going on.

(a) It's not down - it's been replaced. See the "Announce" thread pinned at the top of the list.

(b) The new web portal has MANY problems; and lacks MANY features. A complete list of missing, broken and a scant few new features has been posted by "m.venanzi" at around page 31 of the "Announce" thread.

(c) Unless you have an X1 DVR, you won't be able to change channels or set recordings from the new site. You'll need to use the TV Remote iPhone/Android app for that.

(d) To enjoy this "enhanced experience", you'll probably need to install the latest version of Flash, and make sure 3rd party cookies are enabled, and make sure you've cleared your cache an cookies.

(d) If you have complaints, there is a feedback button on the page if you eventually get to it; or you can send feedback to ecare@comcast.com

And after we tested it and told them what was wrong with it, they forced it on us anyway.

Re: online program guide

It may be time to check out Direct TV at least with them I could have a program guide with my favorite shows to record.  I have spent way too long trying to figure out how to record my shows.  They need to go back to the way it was before they developed this mess.

Re: online program guide

If you're watching a FAV program, on the X1 remote [GUIDE]->[INFO]->[SERIES INFO]->FAVORITE   but it escapes me what/how this is going to be used.  It's not apparent to me of any use, yet

Why not just do everything right on the cable box and TV itself? Non-X1 has series scheduled recordings which will automatically record selected programs. Not sure how X1 handles that, but I hope it has something similar.

The guide on the tv is almost as difficult to use as the new site or the apps. The old web  site was very easy, convenient, and full of useful features. Most of that is gone now. I've resorted to using titantv.com and the remote to change channels.

Re: online program guide

With the online [WATCHLIST] POOF!  Now, I have to use TVGuide.com to list daily viewing, zap2it.com for a tv guide grid, and the X1 remote to change channels.  Needless to say  it's a clumsy workaround and the convenience of the old tv-guide on the desktop is gone.

Re: online program guide

I quit using the series recording a couple of years ago. I would often get pages of repeats of some show that was incorrectly set as new

Came home from one trip with dozens of copies of Law and Order and NCIS, filling my DVR and preventing me from recording everything it was supposed to.

Or worse, a new program wouldn't get recorded because it was incorrectly set as not new.

The way I like to use my cable service (and I have X1) is to program my DVR from my laptop while I am watching programs on my TV. Comcast has made that almost impossible since I have to scroll through almost 1000 channels, most of which I don't get, I have to click on every show to see if it is new, I only see 2 hours instead of 5, and more functionality they stripped from the old web site. And the guide on the TV for X1 is almost as bad. You can select favorite channels, but it is a tedious process, and you still see only 2 hours and can't see which shows are new.

BlueJay--   NON X1 user..  Chrome Browser..  DCX 3425R cable box--     http://www.zap2it.com

@ andyross--  that's what I've been forced back to using and doing.  I did it before I found the DVR programming within the comcast/xfinity . net site..   Zap2it has a 6 hour viewing window so I can easily see what I want to view or record.  It's tedious, time consuming and a royal pain, but, as I said back in July, the new guide is a nightmare for me and I wouldn't be using it.

@ swanda-- that was how I preferred to use my cable service {with my NON-X1 system} on my pc while surfing around during the day..  The NON-X1 guide on TV is probably as bad as you said the X1 guide is for you.  An hour and a half viewing window with a max of 5 channels in that viewing window.    Love my---    http://www.zap2it.com

I should probably thank c/x  for dumping this new and improved site out here, since I am unable & unwilling to use the new guide, I'm spending much less time watching programs that I missed or was unable to record..  Love it!!!  Much lower data usage...  Smiley Happy Smiley Happy
