typing any channel number is actually a search and the numbers each have letters on the keys and the possible combination of the letters are also used for search. Shorter answer is 'you can not'. you could instead use the voice remote and say 'ABC' or the channel number or the exact call letters of the channel if a local broadcast channel.

Hi larryh7, the infotmation that (Rustyben) provided is correct. This is a normal function of the channel guide, there is no way to turn the feature off.
