cable box

cable box

Need information about cable boxes.  I need to connect external speakers and a video output to an external projector but there are no audio output jacks on the box that I have, just one HDMI port which is connected to a TV.  I can use HDMI (though only need DVI) port via a converter but want to connect to my surround sound speakers via separate receiver that controls the speakers.  the old box I had contained digital audio output which was great but no such output exists on the new box.  Any suggestions?

Re: cable box

Thanks all for helpful comments.  I was not able to obtain a cable box in my service area that met my needs, so my solution was to simply purchase an HDMI splitter plus connectors and set up my external components off this setup.  It was easier with the old cable boxes (i.e. pre-digital cable) as they were set up with more external feed options; however, the splitter plus access to the digital audio allows me to use external DVI and component cable options.

Re: cable box

Swap the box for another that has the components that you need
