Zoomtext, Internet Explorer and Xfinity Mail

Zoomtext, Internet Explorer and Xfinity Mail

I have Zoomtext 10.0.10.1, Internet Explorer 9.  Xfinity Mail has started behaving badly.

The screen experiences Lockups, occasionaly requiring Program restart and the sending of information to Microsoft.  Also experiencing delays in the ability to select and Open emails from here the support forums.

Other comcast Websites appear to be working normally.

Any ideas on recent changes in the xfinity Web Design that would be a causal factor in this issue?

Re: Zoomtext, Internet Explorer and Xfinity Mail

I wish I had something helpful to offer, but all I have is empathy. I am using jaws 13 and have discovered that it is 100% impossible to access my mail at the moment. I need to get into my spam folder, but IE crashes when I sign into email and using a different screen reader let me sign in, but couldn't go any further.

I will try on my machine running IE8 later in hopes of better results.

Re: Zoomtext, Internet Explorer and Xfinity Mail

Thank you for your response.

I am finding IE 8 and 9 are locking up with Zoomtext

I switched to Google Chrome and have had good results.

You could try both Google Chrome and Firefox to see if that resolves the Website issues and still retains the JAWS compatibility.

Also Internet Explorer has a "Compatibility" setting that might resolve issues with JAWS.

Re: Zoomtext, Internet Explorer and Xfinity Mail

Thanks for the tips. Compatibility mode was of no help, but good old firefox to the rescue. It is stil pretty difficult to navigate, but finally I got where I needed to go.

Thanks again for the help.

You are very welcome.

Are you going to stick around and help with the JAWS questions?

Good!  It will be interesting to see what develops.

Do you know anyone who uses Guide?  If they are a Comcast customer and are proficient in guied it would be nice to have them aboard as well.

Re: Zoomtext, Internet Explorer and Xfinity Mail

I'm sorry I haven't heard of Guide.

What is it?

Re: Zoomtext, Internet Explorer and Xfinity Mail

Not certain about Guide.  Seems to be a Menu based operating system3

I have heard the menu but can not recall the menu itemu items.Seems lik there was the ability to read and write email and read news and I am guessing there is a search function.

Re: Zoomtext, Internet Explorer and Xfinity Mail

I feel for you, comcast can't fix their email so they have us stiking out in the dark.  I began to experience problems at about

the same dates as you have. I made all the support advise changes that comcast recommended,.Nothing works as to date.

Please let me know if they resolved your problems as it seems to me that comast is deep in the river of deniel.

Unfortunately about the best I can do is sort of get it to work with firefox.

Re: Zoomtext, Internet Explorer and Xfinity Mail

I did a reload of the image from the E: Drive and it is working well now.

I am running Zoomtext 10.0.2, Internet Explorer 11 and windows 7 SP 1  so my issues do not appear to be with comcast.

I am keeping track of the updates to see which update breaks it.

Re: Zoomtext, Internet Explorer and Xfinity Mail

If you need to get Microsoft involved, they have an assistive tech line that's supposed to give yu a straight line to someone who's proficient in fixing AT troubles; http://support.microsoft.com/gp/contact-microsoft-accessibility

I've heard that NVDA sometimes gives better results than JAWs for those times when JAWs acts up.

Sorry I can't go much further with this, I don't use Microsoft anymore. I jumped ship to Linux in '07.

Thank you for your input.  I am going to create new threads to concentrate Thoughts, tips and tricks in focused Threads.  I will create a NVDA thread as well.  I had no idea that NVDA existed until just now. Thank you again.
