Xfinity remote app- can schedule on DVR, but not the other

After having many issues, spending way too much time on the phone with Comcast, and replacing a DVR twice, a tech came to the house and was unable to resolve the issue until he again replaced the DVR. That resolved the original issue of no on demand, but now I can't schedule recording with the Xfinity app. My guess is that the current box that the tech gave us is not officially associated with our account. I spent over an hour on the phone with one person who I don't think really understood what I was talking about. He transferred me to someone else and a few minutes later I was disconnected. At this point I am too frustrated to even try to call them again. I tried live chat, but no one responded. I can only hope that someone from Comcast might read this and help me. If anyone has any other ideas, I am open to suggestion.
