Xfinity TV player will not work: video "buffering" and then black screen

My xfinity player will not work for any type of video. The tv-rating message comes up, and the confirmation of my home network comes up and then the screen goes black. It says it is buffering, but nothing happens. Sometimes after 5-10 minutes I will get a message that says to refresh the browser..this doesn't do anything. This has been happening for days, i've tried to restart the browser, i've tried resetting the adobe license. It seems like others have had this problem in the past, however I cannot find a solution.
