Xfinity TV app - why can't I get a compatible set top box ?

I have a Cisco RNG200 HD receiver/DVR but apparently it can't be used with the Xfinity TV app. Why can't Comcast just issue me a compatible top box (e.g., Motorola HD DVR top box)?

A Cisco cable box only works on Scientific Atlanta / Cisco equipped cable systems.  These are now under trial for the new features, but no area has the TV Apps deployed yet.  They will come eventually.

 

Most Comcast sytems have equipment supplied by Motorola, and those are the areas that have the apps now.  These systems are not interchangable,  a Cisco Box will not work on a Motorola system, and a Motorola box will not work on a SA / Cisco system.
