Why are Xfinity tv listings now stripped of progam information?

Why are Xfinity tv listings now stripped of progam information?

Xfinity tv listings used to have fairly comprehensive descriptions of program content. Now there is nothing. It's useless. I've reloaded the app to no avail. Did they fire all the reviewers?

Are you referring to the listings on Xfinity.com/tv or the listings through the XFINITY TV App?

The TV app. I'm now using TV Guide, but I preferred your app when you were functioning.

Try re-entering your zip code and service area and please try again.

I have tried this and I get an "unknown error occurred...please try again" message when entering my zipcode. This is on the xfinity tv app on an iPad 3. Thanks.

Joe everyone here is correct, most of the channel descriptions no listings are gone from the app.  So when you look at the guide and select a show over half of them have no description.

Hi all,

Are you using Android or iOS devices?

Please let us know so we can further investigate.

I have now talked 2 times with a national tech support guy by the name of Brian, I think, and he said this is a regional issue that is know and engineers are working to get it fixed and to please be patient.  It seems it would help if there was some communication from the Forum Staff and tech support.

I posed the same problem a couple weeks ago.

Is this going to be fixed? It's almost two weeks now.

The national support tech, Brian, I talked too said that it would probably take 'a while' but that they were working on a fix.  He did not say how long a 'while' would be.

Re: Why are Xfinity tv listings now stripped of progam information?

Not only are many listing not showing any program description many of the channels don't even show the program name just a TBD which I assume means 'To Be Determined'.

Whatever TBD means it means that the Xfinity TV app is basically worthless now.

I sure hope they get it fixed soon, it's going from bad to worse.

So tired of this issue. Used to be a great app. Not sure what changed. So annoying that there doesnt seem to be any real acknowledgement of the problem or any resolution in sight. Using the app on iphone4s and "new" iPad.

Try entering your zip code manually instead of using the Comcast Recommended Lineup and see if it works.

Joe,

Almost everyone has tried that and it does not work.  According to National Tech Support they are working on a fix.  Can you please verify this?

Re: Why are Xfinity tv listings now stripped of progam information?

I was able to finally get mine working:

1) deauthorize remote capabilities on the set-top device (menu - settings - remote)

2) reset the device for remote DVR.

3) reconfigure via comcast.net/mydvr

Wait 24 hours for the settings to take.

After that I was able to put in my zip code on my iOS devices.  It was either that or Comcast fixed something overnight.

Re: Why are Xfinity tv listings now stripped of progam information?

The set top box should really have nothing to do with the Xfinity app.  The app does not access the set top box, it gets the listings and descriptons directly from Comcast not the set top box.

Re: Why are Xfinity tv listings now stripped of progam information?

I saw the soloution posted elsewhere, I tried it and it worked.  And the set-top does have something to do with it.  The box has to be authorized to change the channels through the app.  Which means the app does check the box settings when it lists the programming.

I am just trying to help.  How about trying the solution before telling people that it doesn't work?

My set top box has no menu-settings-remote.  I do not have a DVR.

VampireinBlack,

I tried the fix you suggested, unfortunately it didn't work for me, I am still having the same issues.

Re: Why are Xfinity tv listings now stripped of progam information?

It appears, at least for me, most of the program descriptions are back.  Only 1 or 2 channels that don't show descriptions on my iPad.

Thanks for getting this taken care of.
