Video does not play on App

Video does not play on App

In the last 2 weeks, the Xfinity app has stopped playing TV shows. The app was working fine until 2 weeks ago.

 

I select a show and it says acquiring playback licence and then video buffering and then the screen goes dark and it goes right back to the window with the details of the show.

 

I am running the app on a Asus tablet running Android version 5.0.1.

 

The Xfinity app is version 2.4.4.012

Glad I'm not the only one...er no I'm not. I spent a couple hours with comcast about this issue working my way up the service technician pecking order (I got up about 4 tiers) to someone that was an "android specialist" they determined that it is my Asus tablet that doesn't work and not their app and that I need to send it back to asus. Can I ask you if you changed anything on your tablet? I'm on an Asus Me475c and just as you said, it worked till the end of september 2015. I have signed in and out a million times, uninstalled and reinstalled it a number of times and I even did a factory reset on my tablet but nothing works. I hope they pull their heads out of their nether reigons and get a patch on this. They assured me I was the only one that has reported this issue.

Hi,

 

I have started experiencing the same problem.  "acquiring playback license and then video buffering and then the screen goes blank and then it goes back to the window showing the details of the show"  Does this over and over again.  Have reinstalled the app several times to no avail.  Was working fine up until three days ago.  I have an ASUS Zenpad 3 8.0 running Android 5.0 and the xfinity app version 2.4.4.012.

 

I've contacted Comcast and they have elevated to their higher level tech support.  Waiting for them to contact me.  This is very frustrating for two reasons - one, I use the app a lot to watch shows and two, my other tablet is a Samsung Tab S 8.4, which has been acknowledged by Comcast that the Xfinity App will not run on that model.  Waiting for a fix, but I will not hold my breath. 

 

Have either of you come up with a solution??????  This is very frustrating.

Nope I spent hours on the phone with them getting escalated to an android specialist, only to be told it's an issue with my tablet. They also swore up and down that I am the only one that has reported this kind of issue. Sorry no solutions yet. I have  uninstalled and reinstalled the app at least 20 times. I even did a factory reset on my tablet. nothing works.

Just got off the phone with XFinity technician.  He indicated to me that this is not an isolated issue and that other people/devices are experienceing the same problem.  The technical team is working on a fix, however, they do not know when resolution will occur.  He indicated that he would keep me informed.
