Unable to Activate Set Top Box

Unable to Activate Set Top Box

I am unable to activate the set top box.

The connection to the wall is fine, as the router is operating and I have WIFI access.

The coaxial cable is correctly connected from the splitter to the set top box, which is connected via HDMI to the TV.

The remote is operational, as I am able to control the volume and the power.

I am not presented with the codes on screen to enter as described in the instructions.  I am presented the following option:

   Select Your Language

   English (US)

   English (Canada)

   Espanol

However, trying to make a selection from the remote is unsuccessful, as the cursor on screen does not move.

I have spent hours trying to resolve this problem by reading the manuals, searching the forums, searching elsewhere online, etc.

Just for the record, I am not unsophisticated when it comes to technology.  As a related matter, I am able to mirror the screen of my phone on to the television.

I would appreciate any help that anybody could provide.

Thanks very much

Re: Unable to Activate Set Top Box

The remote probably needs to be "unpaired" then "repaired" to the box. The remote you have or the box itself could have been previously paired to other devices.

HOWEVER there is at least one more possibility. Just because your modem works is no guaranty X1 boxes will. X1 boxes are much more signal sensitive. What works for your modem (or Comcast legacy boxes) does not always work for X1.

What happens if you connect the X1 box where the modem is or connect the X1 box to another outlet in the house?

You searched for hours? But you didn't search this forum? This forum is easily the best place to find info on X1.... Issues very similar to yours are discussed daily here.

Try to unpair your remote press/hold setup and press 987.
