This might be a stupid question but will they always tell you before you make any kind of purchase

This might be a stupid question but will they always tell you before you make any kind of purchase/rental that you ARE making a purchase/rental IE something that you will be charged for?

I don't recall anything popping up for something I watched but I'm beginning to question weather or not it was.
