TV picture tiling/pixilating then goes black then comes back on

TV picture tiling/pixilating then goes black then comes back on

I have a Motorola set top box.   Checked that all connection are tight.  Re-powered box at plug.

If I'm wathcing a program , sound and picture clip out then come back on.   Does this every three minites or so.

Called Xfinity to trade out box at local office down the street from me....... they said the box was not the issue I need to have a tech guy come out to the house.

Any insight from anyone???

Also should add that this is the upstairs bedroom box.   The one downstairs in den works fine.

Thanks for any insight.

If you switched locations for the 2 boxes, what happens?

How many 'splits' on your house wiring?

Cable comes to house from street and is split to downstairs and upstairs (from outside plastic box I think).  once upstairs in the bedroom the cable is split again to the TV  and other cable off of split fed through the wall  into the upstairs office for broadband internet.

I haven't tried swiching the boxes.

Yikes!
That's a lot of splitting.

What model is/are the boxes?

I'd bet you have a fairly marginal signal level...

The type of equipment that you have, nothing can be checked remotely. But your equipment is very old and should be updated. Your modem is also old and considered end of life, it should be replaced too.

Re: TV picture tiling/pixilating then goes black then comes back on

Andrew how would you know our modem is old?  How would you have that private information?

Also as far as the number of splits, what do people do that have 5 tv's up and down and a home office with two or even 3 pc's running broadband.  It would seem we have far less splits than a scenario like that.

Andrew can access your account based on your email address because he works AT Comcast.

In a situation with 5 TV's and a modem, most likely you would end up with an amp of some kind.

Re: TV picture tiling/pixilating then goes black then comes back on

Thanks for that info KP.

For some reason this issue has stopped.   Last night the TV was fine.  I don't know why as the night before you virtually couldn't watch TV on this set.

In any case I guess I should have them out to update everything.  Does anyone know the cost or billing for them to make a service call when something is not working or equipment needs to be updated? We are outside/west of Boston

Thanks

Hello Danica123, I can assist you with getting a tech scheduled to come out and repair your services. Please send me a private message with your full name, street address, and account number by clicking on my name (ComcastAmir) and then "private message me" and we can get started.
