Set top box not authorized

I have basic service on the small box, but the DVR gives me nothing.  My service is on vacation suspension.  Shouldn't I at least get basic cable service from the DVR box?

Depends on the area and how they handle seasonal ... some areas do turn off all but one piece of equipment.
