Separate recording list using a TiVo?

Separate recording list using a TiVo?

Today is my first day with Comcast Xfinity. We switched from U-verse for a variety of reasons, but one MAJOR reason is because the sales rep told me that with two X1 devices my elderly mother, who lives with us, could have her own separate recording list. The main reason we need this is because my husband, our children nd I do not want to scroll through tons of Hallmark movies (recorded by my mother) to find our own recorded shows.

Through lots of Internet research, I have now found out that the x1 devices do not have an option to separate the recordings by device. I’m not sure why we need to have names for the separate devices?

So, my question is: If I tell Comcast to come pick up one of the X1s (probably my mom’s) and I get her a TIVO, will that solve my problem? The other TVs in the house can share the recordings from the X1 and my mom’s recordings will only be accessible in her room. Right?

Please help!

there are options. One of you could use a DTA (won't see the DVR), or have one legacy box (not part of X1) and the X1 box in the same home on same account (call billing at 800-Comcast to set up). please reply with questions or more details on what you want for others to assist you in this thread.

Re: Separate recording list using a TiVo?

I was told at the Xfinity store that the TiVo solution would not work because all of the recordings are stored in the cloud (something about MoCA) and the TiVo would get the same list. I don't want to buy a TiVo and have it not work. Can you clarify?

The TiVo and X1 are 2 completely different and separate platforms. Only recordings made through the X1 are available through the cloud. Any recordings made or scheduled will not show on both.

Moca is how all the X1 boxes in the house communicate"
