Screen says I am recording on VCR, don't have one. Can't change channel.

Screen says I am recording on VCR, don't have one. Can't change channel.

How do I delete a VCR recording message when I do not have a VCR.  Can't change channels.

 We don't supply VCR's. Could you be referring to a DVR? Is there a number error code associated with the error message you are receiving?

With some cable-boxes it is possible if you accidentally hit the Record button to lock up on the current channel if you don't have a DVR. It has happened to me in the past.

 

The best way to recover from this is to unplug the cable-box for at least one minute. Then plug the box back in and allow at least 5 minutes for the box to reset and download data from Comcast. This clears any control code errors that locked up the box in the first place.

 

Turn the box back on and you should be back to normal operation.
