Reps are ignorant about AnyPlay

I am trying to rent any AnyPlay device.  I went to my local (Portland, OR) Xfinity store today, and the rude fellow at the desk told me the service has ben discontinued.  Then I called the hellish 1-800-XFINITY only to be told by two different people that no device is necessary.  All of these people seem to be wrong.  All I want to do is rent the box so that I can use AnyPlay.  It appears to be available in my area.  Can somebody at Comcast PLEASE HELP ME spend my money with you?

As policies vary across Comcastland, in my area (Chicago) the AnyPlay device was never available at the local Comcast offices, but must be ordered by a phone sales rep and shipped to you for $10 shipping charge.

 

There were rumors that select Corp. owned Verizon Wireless stores carried them, but that was never confirmed.

 

Your the first to mention they were being discontinued, but not surprising since AnyPlay was never marketed properly and overpriced in my opinion.  I have one and feel it's not worth it.

 

Since there is little Comcast interaction on this user to user forum, you can send a email to we_can_help@cable.comcast.com and these folks will get in touch with the right local people to get you a accurate answer.
