Recurring Xfinity DVR reset

Recurring Xfinity DVR reset

I had a problem with my DVR reseting 3 to 4 times a day since it was installed in May of this year. I called several times about it and even though the techs did what they could remotely it never fixed the problem. Finally on Sep 12th I called and the tech asked me if my DVR was plugged in to a power strip, surge protector or directly into the wall outlet. I replied (rather proudly I might add) a surge protector. She recommended the I plug the DVR directly into the wall outlet.3 days later I realized that the DVR had not reset since (not counting the updates). In short PROBLEM RESOLVED. I have 2 recommendations. The first is to comcast. Lead with that. If there is a recurring problem with an Xfinity DVR find out what its plugged in to. If its not plugged directly into the wall socket then have the customer do so.

The 2nd recommendation is to any Xfinity customer. If you are having any kind of recurring problem with your DVR, see above.

So kudos to the tech who went beyond the regular script and searched for an alternately solution instead of just reseting the DVR again.

She turned a disgruntled customer into a very happy customer.

Hi, I moved your post to the X1 area of the forum. Please call 800-Comcast and ask the representative to check your signal levels. What you describe is the X1 set top box having trouble communicating with the Comcast servers and it reboots to attempt to get a better connection.
