It  DID affect the functionality of my laptop as a remote! Why else would I work around it? Tell me, Dan, does your wrist watch automacilly adjust for daylight saving? Your alarm clock? Your wall clock? How much time do you spend on these twice a year? My fix took less than a minute and fixed the issues I was having. I figure I can spend two minutes a year until Comcast gets their heads out of their butts to restore what I had to start with!

By the way, I'm an IT Manager.

How are you trying to change the channel? Are you clicking on the channel logos on the tv grid or using some other method? Are you getting any specific error message?

It's the software that isn't working correctly. And yes I have alarm clocks , thermostats and wall clocks that adjust themselves correctly.
