Poor video quality

Poor video quality

The video quality on some shows is really bad. This is a screenshot of how horrible the quality is for streaming America's Got Talent right now: http://i.imgur.com/zHwXbhM.png

It is not worth watching. Here is a picture of an internet speed test: http://i.imgur.com/AV0jXxW.png

I am at 67 mbps down. I should have 1080p no problem. In fact I do get 1080p no problem, but on other websites like youtube.com.

I am not posting about this because it is the first time it has happened. This happens quite a bit. I have video quality set to "high", but it is the same on "high" or "auto". It doesn't matter how long I buffer the video; it can buffer for over 5 minutes and have the same result.

What can I do to attempt to solve the problem, or is this an issue on your end? Sometimes I get great quality just fine.

I just realized I can attach files so I will attach the screenshots as well.

Re: Poor video quality

This might be a dumb question, but which video link did you choose? One is SD quality, the other is HD. To me, yours looks to be SD quality.

Re: Poor video quality

And one more thing, you should click the "MORE ONLINE OPTIONS" link to show the available viewing options for the show.  See image:

Sometimes Comcast lists the SD version first, sometime they list the HD version first.  That might explain why sometimes you think it looks good, and sometimes is doesn't.  I hope this helps.

Re: Poor video quality

Thank you for that! I was completely unaware of that option lol. It did make it noticeably better, however it is still pretty poor quality for being HD. You can at least somewhat see the facial expression, which makes it watcheable compared to before, but it is nowhere near HD.

Re: Poor video quality

It only looked that good because it was a still shot. But when there is movement it is a far cry from being HD lol.

So is that just how good I can expect Comcast streaming to get?
