New TV Guide is not up to the present one.

Comcast is ready to give us a new TV Guide that they have been asking us to try for the last week. After trying it I found a coupe of major short comings as compared to the present TV Guide.

 

1) The new TV Guide only displays 2 hrs of shows as compared with the option to display up to 5 hrs in the present TV Guide.

2) The new TV Guide dosen't have a "Filter" for our Favorite Channels.

 

These two lose of functionality makes the new TV Guide a no go for me.

I came here to list the same concerns as you did.  Additionally, the new guide doesn't display the NEW episode icon in the listings.  The whole thing is very frustrating. I've reverted back to the old menu.  Hopefully, Comcast can fix these issues.

What new TV Guide are you both referring to?  Here on line? On your TV?  What piece of equipment are you using to view?

 

I just checked  _--> http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/tv-listings and I had the 5 hr grid, my favorites and HD listings+ the total listing of my channels.

 

Using my pc- chrome browser.  Also, I Do Not have the X1 system.

 

And my location is Massachusetts.

Since switching to X1, I get the option to try the new online version of TV listings. While it has some really cool features, they neglected to include the aforementioned features that I considered useful. 

 

I didn't get the pop up window to try the new menu until I switched.  I'm able to use the original guide for now.  Hopefully Comcast will fix this issue before the choice is gone.  BJ, if you're interested in X1, it's a huge improvement, in my opinion. The voice activated remote is worth the price of admission alone.

Hi Ralph,

Thanks for clearing up this for me.  I have to learn that I'm behind the times by not having X1.

 

I watch on an average of 3 hrs of tv a night, so X1 would not be cost effective for me.

 

Voice activation--  I talk enough to the tv when things go wrong, nanny filter would blow a circuit. Smiley Wink

 

Seriously tho, there is an X1 forum here and you might find your answers  there.

Posting to the forums about the https://xtv.comcast.net/grid issue being inadequate will most likely just fall on deaf ears.  I encourage everyone who feels the new Xfinity TV guide to be lacking to go to the https://xtv.comcast.net/grid website and choose the FEEDBACK link along the lower left side of the grid, and let Comcast know how you feel about this substandard TV Guide.  Maybe if more people give negative feedback, they might actually change this.

 

I personally hate that I can't filter the grid by my favorite channels, and I am forced to only view 2 hours at one time. Makes the grid useless in my opinion. That is why I keep going back to the http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/tv-listings webpage to program my DVR.

Grazie BJ!  The X1 forum is hopping.   

 

The switch to X1 only increased my bill by $8 for DVR rental.  Not sure if Comcast has different pricing structures by region, but here in FL that seems to be the norm.

 

Like you, I have about a 3 hour window to watch the tube.  Unfortunately, I have a short attention span, so it's nice to bark into the mic until I find a show/movie that holds my interest.
