Just switched to Comcast Xfinity X1 and the XFinity TV Remote on iPad fails

My first experience switching to Comcast Xfinity X1 has been less than positive because of the TV Remote on iPad. The buttons in the TV Guide for a selected program to select it's channel or record are not live. I can manually type the channel number, or click on the channel column, and it works, so I know my iPad is successfully communicating with the DVR. The app also crashes frequently. I'm running iOS9 on an air 2. Looking for help.

Fixed. I deleted the app and downloaded a fresh copy. Still crashes though.
