I am trying to watch tv on my patio at home

I am an X1 customer.  I have the Xfinity TV app on my ipad Air which worked fine until last weekend.  Now, when I open the app, it turns on the last channel I watched (Live TV), but it will not let me change to a different station (I am NOT trying to use this app to change the channel on my 50" tv).  It simply closes the station window and goes on showing the previous station.  I have tried removing the app and re-downloading, resetting my set top box, turned all power off to everything.  This morning the app worked on my iphone6, but this evening it does not work there either.  Help.
