HDHomeRun Prime Tuner Card Playback Issue HBO

HDHomeRun Prime Tuner Card Playback Issue HBO

Hello Comcast Support,

I recently purchased an HDHomeRun Prime tuner and I'm able to view non DRM channels but I'm not able to view DRM protected channels such as HBO.  I'm using the HDHomeRun app on the latest version of Windows 10 that is recommended.

The logs tell me it tunes to the channel and then just drops.

Channels that are copy protected by the cable provider (indicated by the DRM mark) can only be accessed by hardware/software that supports industry-approved protection, which basically means a PC running Windows Media Center, a media center extender linked to such a PC, a Playstation 3, or our HDHomeRun VIEW app for Android. Other hardware/software that does not support protection (including most DLNA device, QuickTV, XBMC, VLC, etc.) can only access the unprotected channels.

This could also be another example of working as intended if you are using PLEX as a platform to avenue the content from Silicon Dust HD Home Run Prime. And because of the recent update for Windows, Windows Media Center is no longer available; which was a primary platform for HD Home Run Prime. So users have been looking for alternative methods.

Re: HDHomeRun Prime Tuner Card Playback Issue HBO

I have an Xbox One S and at first the channels weren't showing on the channel line up. I ended up calling Comcast Card department and they sent a signal to the card. After refreshing the channel line up I can now see all the HBO DRM channels via my Xbox. You will need to use the HDHomerun app as third party apps will not be able to view the DRM channels. DVR functions will not work on DRM channels.
