Error 557

Error 557

I try to watch certain movies and they will not play.  Seems to be anything other than basic cable programming (for instance, AMC works fine), Movieplex or HBO (I follow Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and Newsroom with no problem, as well as HBO movies).
I've tried to watch these movies:

The Marseille Contract (The Destructors)
(MGM)

Descent
(Screen Media Films/Ventures)

New Town Killers
(Gravitas)

The Apartment
(Lionsgate)

The Quiller Memorandum
(20TH Century Fox)

I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Flash, it didn't help at all.  I still get the same error.  So what's the trouble?  None of these movies say they're locked or I need to be Channel X subscriber.

Re: Error 557

Okay, solved it.  Adblock Plus was the problem.  I had to add a filter for http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/ into Adblock Plus so that the commercials/Hulu ads could load.  Since they were being blocked, the movie wouldn't even initialize as that's the price for Hulu; commercial first, then movie (I guess).

The issue is with your Flash Player.

Try using a different web browser and let me know if it works. This is not a permanent solution but it will help us narrow down your issue.

Also, do you have any anti-virus software or pop-up blockers installed?

Thanks,
Joe

I don't have any anti virus software or pop up blockers running while trying to watch any of these movies, no.

Re: Error 557

Also, why are you so certain it's my flash player?  I can view other movies just fine.

The programs that are not working for you use Flash. The programs that are working for you use Silverlight.

Go here and make sure that storage is set to 100KB and that "Allow third party Flash content..." and "Store common Flash components..." are checked.

Go here and make sure that "Always allow" is checked

Go here and make sure that xfinitytv.com and xfinity.com are always allowed.

Go here and make sure the bar is set to none for storage settings

Now try watching a video that does not work again and let me know if it works.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Error 557

Okay, did all that.  Still can't watch those movies.  Still get the same error.  The only thing that is different is that I only have xfinitytv.comcast.net listed as an option for the Website Privacy settings panel (but it is set to "always allow").

Re: Error 557

Okay, I also reinstalled Internet Explorer 8 to see what would happen/if I could watch the movies (part of me died inside).  Lo and behold, I am able to watch the movies with Internet Explorer.  I notice though, that there are commercials that load first before the movie begins playing.  I've never even seen the commercials with Firefox so I'm wondering if it's possibly an Ad Block conflict?  I'm using Adblock Plus 2.1.2 with Firefox.

Re: Error 557

PS- Adblock Plus isn't a pop-up blocker, it just erases in-page ads/stops them from loading.
