Emergency alerts when a person is sight impaired

Hello,

My mother is sight impared, there was a test of the emergency system and she called me to come and see what the TV was showing as she could not see it.  By time I made it to the TV the alert was over.  The next time it come on she called me again and I saw that it was a test.  Why cannot it SAY IN SPEACH that it is a test.

Even the banner that run across the TV when there is bad weather do not say in SPEACH what it is for and what area in covers, she had to call me to look at the TV for her as she cannot read it.

If I am not home then she will not be told what the alerts or banners say.

Is there someway to make them SPEACH ENABLED?

Re: Emergency alerts when a person is sight impaired

These are not Comcast generated, they're all local.  I can definitely understand your and your mother's concern about this.  Some stations will do an audio as well as visual test, but most times they don't.

For the most part, if there is an actual emergency, there will be audio to accompany the visual warning, such as during a severe weather warning.

I am not aware of any place you can go to address your concern regarding this on the local level.  Sorry.  Maybe someone else would have some information and can post a follow-up here.
