DVR and mobile

Yesterday I recorded a show, the profit on CNBC. I record other CNBC shows, but this one had a message "not available for mobile" or something to that effect. Are some shows licensed differently to disable watching the recording later, outside the home, but on my Comcast acct?

The licensing of shows is done by the owner of the content...  it is very possible that CNBC does not allow this on that show...  You would need to contact CNBC directly to discuss with them as Comcast only transmits what they are allowed to send...

Re: DVR and mobile

I highly doubt that the one show was marked differently by CNBC.  It's most likely a screw up by the Comcast system.  Can I assume you are on the X1 platform?  I have seen this problem in the past when checking my recording schedule.  This occurred the other day for me on NBC while recording Bullseye.  I checked to see what I had scheduled for the night (using a mobile app) and noticed Bullseye was missing from the schedule.  I then went on the physical DVR and saw Bullseye was still scheduled but had been marked "Not available for mobile viewing". So I cancelled the upcoming recording, then re-scheduled it and the message disappeared.  If I had failed to catch it before the recording occurred, I wouldn't have been able to watch the recording on my mobile device.

Just some glitch in the Comcast system.  There have been other documented posts about this glitch on the forum in the past.

Re: DVR and mobile

Thoughtlessly I deleted the show after watching it on my X1 DVR box, so I can't test my hypothesis, but, I'm thinking that possibly it was a side effect of the fact that the show was recording at the time I looked at the list of saved recordings page. Perhaps I'll try to test this: I too would find it odd that a station like CNBC would be selective in tagging some shows as available for mobile devices, and some not. Why??

Re: DVR and mobile

Here is a perfect example of this bug in action.  Reading your post reminded me to check my recording schedule.  I knew I had 5 shows scheduled to record tonight (6/18/2015).

Looking at the xfinitytv.comcast.net/mytv/dvr website I see this:

ScheduleWeb.jpg

Looking at the xtv.comcast.net/scheduled website, I see this:

ScheduleApp.jpg

Notice how Aquarius and Hannibal are missing from the list.  They are also missing from the list on the Android app on my phone and tablet.

Looking at the schedule on the actual DVR I see this (It looks bad because I had to take a picture of my TV with a camera):

ScheduleDVRa.jpg

If I select Aquarius, this is what I see:

NotAvailableForMobileViewing1.jpg

Notice the message below the recording time: Not available for mobile viewing.

I have found in the past that I need to cancel the recording and reschedule it in order for that message to go away.  If I fail to do this, I will NOT be able to watch this recording from a cloud device.

This is an ongoing issue that comes up every now and then, and Comcast has yet to acknowledge this, let alone fix it.
