Remote intermittently stops being able to change channels. Must reboot to correct problem. Called Comcast 4 Times. No resolution. Will a new box help?

Re: Channe

If convenient I would exchange current box and remote at the nearest service center. You may be better off leaving the replacement box and remote controling the box only to start with. Control the television ith the tv remote. See if things work better that way.

Comcast denies it but for DVRs at least when the firmware is updated, some % of the time the remote won't work on the first boot up after the firmware update. Comcast states flatly that it doesn't happen yet I've had it happen many times and only 'at' point of a firmware update. You can power un-plug and re-plug the set top box 'OR' press and hold the set up button until the remote's LED changes from red to green and press the Xfinity button. Then type the 3 numbers displayed on the TV screen. both solutions work for me when it happens.
