Buffering never ends

Buffering never ends

I'm trying to watch Revolution s01-e02 and after the NBC logo and a fast still with the broadcast times, it goes to a black screen showing the word "buffering".  From past experience, this should last for a few seconds or so but this screen never goes away and the episode never starts.

I tested the video and did not find any buffering issues.

Please go to www.xfinitytv.com/computer and copy the information you see on-screen and paste it in this thread so we can further assist you.

Also, is it happening to any other videos?

There is something in Chrome that is conflicting with a smooth video playback experience.

If you still want to watch videos in Chrome, try uninstalling and then re-installing Chrome and see if it improves video playback. Hopefully, a clean install will get rid of any conflict that existed in Chrome.

I'm experiencing the same issue, but I'm using Internet Explorer. What can I do to fix my problem?  Thanks in advance.

Re: Buffering never ends

Definitely a browser configuration settings problem, as a matter of fact if you downloaded the latest IE 11 you sure will have problems , so rather stay with the old browser if you use IE (9 and 10 works fine)..

Just amazing knowing that MS would say that IE11 is more stable which is absolutely not true ..probably within one week there will be update/patch day soon ...

So here is Comcast not to blame !!

I am having the same issue, with Black Screen.  However, I'm not using chrome or fire fox.  I've tried everything in windows 8 and, adobe

Re: Buffering never ends

A few weeks ago I checked in and Comcast explained it was a TV-MA issue that they knew about.  Now it isn't?  I am using Windows 8 and come on, seriously going to suggest that Comcast Xfinity TV will not work with INTERNET EXPLORER?  Ok, that makes sense.

I shouldn't have to download FireFox to watch shows online.  I have Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, all play absolutely fine, so how is this not a comcast issue?

PLEASE GIVE ME A CREDIT FOR 2 WEEKS OF NOT BEING ABLE TO WATCH ONLINE.  I HAVE POSTED EACH WEEK WITH THE SAME ERRORS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE OR HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT IT.

I suspect it is a TV-MA parental controls issue as I can watch a few shows that are not TV-MA and Hulu shows sometimes work, but after that TV-MA screen it just goes black and 'buffering' comes up and does nothing.

Contributor

Re: Buffering never ends

I suspect my issue is a TV-MA issue.  I shouldn't have to download another browser.  If comcast cannot work with Internet Explorer I suggest you get back to the network engineer and get this resolved.

It is not a chrome, firefox or IE issue for me, it is any TV-MA show.  It just 'buffering' constantly and does nothing.  Other shows will sometimes play.  Hulu shows will sometimes play as I have a Hulu and Netflix account as well so I expect those to play anyway.

This is my 8th post in 24 days.  Also, can I get a $25 credit for another 2 weeks of having no internet TV?  This is one of the main reasons I stay with Comcast and since January 1st (December 30th I think it began?) it has not work.  Prior to that the shows played fine.

Re: Buffering never ends

I'm just going nuts every single show gets stuck on the ads, no buffering message, sometimes I get a black screen. This just started a couple of days ago. I have been trying to watch one episode of a tv show for over 2 hours now and so far have only been able to see about 15 mins of it. I've made no changes to my computer and it was working flawlessly just 3 days ago so I'm puzzled. I agree with the others I shouldn't have to dl a new browser to watch but I did anyway, I downloaded firefox and it does the same thing on there. I thought perhaps maybe a flash problem so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it...any ideas? Thanks.

Update: now the ads just keep repeating over and over, the show tries to start then stops and goes right back to the ads...for me it's the ads that are giving me all the trouble

Contributor

Re: Buffering never ends

Another 2 weeks.  COMCAST, XFINITY, WHOEVER, are you ever going to fix this.

I want a $20 credit on my account this is ridiculous!!!!  No one ever answers, No one fixes any issues.  But my bill is PAID ON TIME.

Anyone actually reading these?

Re: Buffering never ends

UPDATE: I (for the most part) fixed my problem by rolling my Internet Explorer back to ie10 and turning off the auto update to new version. (tools - about internet explorer - should have the check box there) My computer came with ie10 but had updated itself to ie11 which apparently is barely functional with flash. I'm not a computer guru but after reading articles online it seems that either microsoft has dropped or limited its efforts with flash compatability or vice versa.

I also did the steps here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-games-video-or.html  (especially the deleting the flash folder steps, this seems to be the most effective)

I used my Norton to clean my cache, defrag and under tasks I cleaned my registry and did a full system scan for viruses.

I've had to do this more than once already so it's a pain which is why I finally gave in and downloaded mozilla firefox as an alternative when I don't feel like going through all the other things I have to do.

Good luck everyone.

Re: Buffering never ends

This thread starts by describing the problem and says it is solved. The solution it points to is "load in another browser." This is not a solution. What is comcast doing such that internet tv functions in internet explorer in windows 8. Please answer.

Re: Buffering never ends

This is an issue for me as well. I tried it on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox. I've deleted all history and cookies. I've reset all browsers back to default (factory) settings. I've disabled all extensions on all browsers. I've "turned off" my parental controls. I even tried it with parental controls on but allowing all channels. My flash player is up to date. I have all current Windows updates installed. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and Fedora Linux. I even tried using Internet Explorer 32-bit. It just gets stuck on the following;

This video is rated TV-MA.
The following program is intended for mature audiences only.
Manage Parental Controls

It wont get past this page. I've tried it on multiple videos. This happened while trying to watch The Walking Dead. Please fix this ASAP Comcast!!!!!!! You might lose a few customers Smiley Sad. Re: Buffering never ends

That's not a solution. Seriously. If you choose a method to stream your shows which is restrictive you should know that. Or perhaps it means you are just guessing. Try this, try that.  When I connect to Netflix it tells me right off the bat that it does not offer streaming to someone using what I use. On the other hand, hulu.com works like a charm. Amazon will work and not work and they do not do a very good job of it but why be like people who don't do a good job? Be like hulu.com or at least like Netflix.

On the money. hulu has worked for me for years going through many version of linux, chrome and firefox. They must be hiring the cream of the crop.

Re: Buffering never ends

We had a network issue today that was highlighted in this primary thread that may have caused this:

http://forums.comcast.com/t5/XfinityTV-Website/UPDATE-TV-Go-Web-and-Mobile-Live-Streams-are-coming-b...

Issue was resolved at 4:18pm EST. If the buffering still remains, please let us know by providing what you are trying to stream (a URL example works best unless you are on mobile). Then you can provide something descriptive like Game of Thrones, S3 E2 or something similar.

Appreciate the patience.

Sincerely,

Matt

Re: Buffering never ends

Thanks, so for clarity are you saying you actually get an error message as well? Or just buffering?

If you think it's your computer you can go to XfinityTV.comcast.net/computer and private message me the results. If you do the same on your husband's I can help determine if there is a difference.

Thanks,
Matt

Re: Buffering never ends

I have been looking at a buffering screen for 20 minutes trying to watch the latest SOA episode.  This has been going on over 2 hours......yet every time I get frustrated and click the back button the commercials play right away no problem.....then nothing.......so I have to conclude that Comcasts stance on this is if you can see the commercials....then that is all they care about....next bill....139.95....dont be late or we will terminate your ability to watch the commercials.  "Your video will resume shortly"  like maybe in 6 months

Re: Buffering never ends

Same problems as the others.  I've tried Chrome, FireFox, and Safari.  Saying this is a browser problem is just ridiculous.

I regularly watch videos on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, HBO, and SYFY.

I have no problems with any of those services.

WHO DO WE HAVE TO CONTACT AT COMCAST TO GET A FIX FOR THE SERVICE WE ARE PAYING FOR?

Re: Buffering never ends

Same issue here works for the first segment then as soon as the ads start 500 ads then buffer

Re: Buffering never ends

This is ridiculous!! Happens on Firefox, IE, Chrome.  All have been reset, Flash reset, Silverlight reinstalled... Someone at Comcast pay attention and fix this whatever the issue is it is on your side.

Re: Buffering never ends

Having the same problem: after commercials, when the show appears to be coming back on, the screen remains black, never moves from ad configuration (if the show isn't full screen), and if I mouse over the black screen, it says "buffering".  This happens across networks (TNT, History, etc.) and across TV shows, regardless of time of day, and regardless of which browser I am using (Explorer or Chrome).  Refreshing, restarting, resuming, etc. all do not work.
