Re: 4K capability

Hi BlueZebra:

What the Comcast person isn't telling you is that both Netflix and Amazon Instant Video have 4K/HDR programming available.  He's also not telling you that Comcast (since it's conversion to MPEG4) has downconverted most of the content it transmits to 720P from 1080i.  Some 4K televisions automatically upconvert everything to 4K resolution.  Similarly, if you are using a current generation TIVO bolt DVR rather than a Comcast box, it will automatically upconvert to 4K if it recognizes your TV as being a unit that supports 4K signals.

If your new TV is a smart TV AND it's software includes applications for those services (and you have either a wired ethernet connection or strong WIFI connection), you will be able to stream 4K video from those services (for Netflix there is a slightly higher monthly charge).

Re: 4K capability

Actually I just answered the OP's question but thanks for providing them with additional examples where 4K programming can be found.
