Xfinity stream

I was visiting my grown children in FL and wanted to watch a show using the new Comcast app. When my daughter tried to connect her tablet to the TV, the app said we are sorry please disconnect HDMI, mirroring or casting devices and try again. She spent about a hour on the phone with Comcast who assured her she could do it. They sent signals and did a few other things but nothing worked. The rep then said wait about 2 hours and try again. Still receiving the same error message. She researched the web and found that Comcast failed to include the video out in the app. However, all of the Comcast reps we spoke to assure her it would work like it us too with the old app. Well it doesn't. This is the worst app update ever. One of the reps stated that there is a glitch in the app and it should be fixed. Can you tell me when the fix will be in place.

Devices tried were Rca tablet, iphone5, and Droid razr. None worked. All used to work.

currently it is possible to use a desk/laptop and connect via HDMI or even using the chrome browser and a chromecast dongle device. This is only possible due to a current 'understanding' that a desk/laptop treats the HDMI connected device as another monitor. The providers of the entertainment (producers/channels) get paid per outlet by Comcast so televisions connected have to be via a set top box that are assigned an outlet in the home. You could use the portable devices while watching on the native screen of the devices.
