my phone number...

Recently signed up with Comcast.  The phone number I was issued formerly belonged to a local business.  I get 10+ calls per day from people looking for the business that used to have my (now home) number (even had one lady cuss me out this afternoon because I haven't changed my number and she needs to find the business).


Will Comcast give me a new number?  Am I going to get charged for it?

This seems to be really common, with Comcast recycling numbers like this.


They will probably try to charge you 10.00/per number - to change your number. And no promises you won't get another number that belonged to a business. I did it over their live chat support, and they gave me numbers to choose from. However, the numbers were used and we get many calls for the old owners.  (on both of our CDV lines). 


I called and was able to get one of the number changes credited, however, not the second. So I'm out 10 bucks over 20. Not too bad. But still a pain in the but. 


To be honest, we keep both lines on call forward most of the time, due to the calls, and just use them for outbound dialing.
