can't transmit on Home phone/recieve is fine

my home telephone can receive calls but I can't dial out.  I get the dial tone; when I start dialing, it sounds like a modem and I then I get a busy signal.  I can recieve calls without any problem.  I switched phones and the problem is still there.  I tried to call comcast yesterday but couldn't get anyone.  I am at work now.

You will need to call into Comcast @ 1-800-266-2278 or 1-800-934-6489 and speak with the CSR about your non-working services to begin the troublehsooting process.

shelly601, this can usually happen due to a wiring problem or equipment issues. Do you have anything in between the phone and modem or do you have the service connect through the home wiring? -FC
