calling...disconnected numbers

Upon repeated occasions (at least 6 in the past few months) instead of hearing the expected ring tones when I make a call I get a recording telling me that the number I have called has been disconnected or is no longer in service. In the beginning I abandoned a couple of long time business connections due to the message. Recently I was at one business & they were attempting to contact another valid business but every phone number that they tried, they got the same response:  disconnected or no longer in service (which of course we both knew was not the case but whattyado?). So I went back and redialed the business contacts that I had abandoned ~ and this time the phone worked & they answered! This is only one of my experiences with being a comcast phone customer. The others have been equally enjoyable and there was always a reason why comcast was not at fault.
