call forwarding

I recently recieved the new Arris TG862 based on a recommendation from Comcast.  Since I recieved the new equipment I am unable to forward my phone utilizing the online option.  I can only forward my phone by using *72.  Please advise as to why this is the case.  I didn't have any problem with the old modem.  Thank you

Have you checked under your preference>voice if you have the call forwarding and rings enabled if so are you getting any error message?

I tried to forward to my cell phone online and it still isn't working. That program says the call forwarding is enabled and saved.   Also, when I disable the function the number to be forwarded to disappears.  Prior to the modem change the number would be retained by the progam
