Verification text code from Amazon Echo not rcv'd

I tried to use my xfinity home phone with an Amazon Echo (Alexa) for calling and I can't recieve the text verification code from Amazon's short code number 262966 Does Xfinity not accept texts from these type of numbers?

Re: Verification text code from Amazon Echo not rc

Hi Petey123, home phone equipment will not be able to get text messages. Please reach out to Amazon for further assistance with your Echo equipment.

Re: Verification text code from Amazon Echo not rc

Just to clarify I can get text messages on my Comcast home phone and can read them through the Xfinity app. Why is it that I cannot get texts from this particular Amazon number???? I am perplexed????

Re: Verification text code from Amazon Echo not rc

Petey123, this represents a type of short code text that is more commonly done on mobile devices. Please attempt to use a mobile device number instead of a landline.

Re: Verification text code from Amazon Echo not rc

I do have a cellphone number I can use but would prefer to use my home phone number as the identifying number for Amazon Echo calls. Basically it is a confirmation and nothing more. I hate to be satirical but why do I need a Comcast *home* phone then? Amazon echo is a huge right now. Also this mystifies me as Comcast seems to be pushing into the mobile space as well.

Petey123, a short code is a small phone number that is only used for text. Landlines are use promptly for voice and not text. Perhaps you can use your mobile number to register the service and then switch the contact number to the landline after you have gotten set up.
