VOIP softphone problem

VOIP softphone problem

I have a third party VOIP service. It works fine with the VOIP-hardphone but not on my PC(Softphone). I spoke with the customer service from my VOIP service (SIPGATE) - he told me that the signal is not leaving the modem/gateway. BTW, before moving we had AT&T UVerse and had no problems with that. We are using the Comcast modem presently and would like to get our own. Does anyone know of a modem that works well with third party softphones.

I researched this and found that the Arris TM722g was the best to use with the phone since it pre-assigns bandwidth to the telephone before it allows other users to have space.  They are avalable refurbished from Amazon.  Avoid the used ones since they might be rental units kept when they stopped service.
