Listening to calls

Listening to calls

Here is my situation. When I was a customer of Qwest, I could listen to messages from the answering machine while the caller leaves a message. This way, I just turn the volume ON, and if I want to answer, I just pick-up the phone, but how does it work with Comcast?

Re: Listening to calls

Sounds like you were using an regular old-fashioned answering machine then.  You generally cannot do that with Voicemail -- with any carrier.

However if Comcast allows you to turn off your Voicemail feature and you continue to use your answering machine I see no reason why you couldn't still do that.

If you want to use a traditional answering machine, you can call Comcast and request that they turn off voicemail.  That's what I did when I had CDV installed.  I prefered the machine that I already had, so they never turned it on for me.
