Defective battery backup

Defective battery backup

This is a no brainer but apparently has Comcast "support" stumped. We have a battery backup in the modem. The bottom light blinks away, never stops on the Technicolor TC8305C modem (this is the light marked "battery".)

It never STOPS blinking and if the power is disconnected there is no phone. Anyone can see that the battery backup is NOT WORKING. That is anyone except the support folks we have talked with.

I'm posting this for my Mother who has health issues and it is imprerative to have a phone available. The usual calls  to support state that the phone is working or they send the silly "refresh" signal. C'mon admit that we have a defective device, fix it..

Re: Defective battery backup

If you "do" have a battery installed in the unit, it may need to be replaced as these do go bad over time....

Re: Defective battery backup

Was wondering if you ever got this issue resolved. I have a gateway modem from comcast, have had 2 batteries shipped, both brand new, and never used and had my modem replaced, because the battery department at comcast insisted the modem was the problem. Back up still doesn't work!! no phone line when power goes out, i have it for like 40 seconds and then it goes dead.

did yours ever start working?
