Comcast voice without gateway

Comcast voice without gateway

Hi,  I'm considering going with a triple play package, however I DON'T want to have to use one of the gateways that is either available through Comcast or as a purchase.  I want to continue to use my current docsis 3 cable modem and separate router and WIFI.  My performance is outstanding with this set up.  My network is currently working exactly how I want it to and I have all the equipment I need to keep it that way.  What I would like to know is if I get a triple play package, can I continue to use this set up, and just log into my Comcast account and forward my voice number to another number (like a cell phone number)?  I know forwarding is possible, but will I be able to do it if it hasn't been properly activated or whatever it is they have to do on their end.  I really, really don't want one of their crappy gateways, especially if I'm going to have to pay a rental fee for it every month.  As I've said, I already have a properly functioning set up here and am very happy with performance.  I recently started using Google Voice with my cell phone and love the added features with it (can you say whitelist?).

Unfortunately, COmcast Digital Voice can not be setup wthout activation of an EMTA device ( modem/gateway ).  If I were you, I would visit my local Service Center and speak with a CSR there about activating an EMTA modem in your system, that will not affectr your modem/router setup at all....  the EMTA will not affect your existing network setup.
