Hello,

The other day I noticed that there is a free preview for Starz.  How long does this free preview last and why was nothing said about it?

On my X1 under On Demand, TV, Featured TV, there's a card saying Starz Free Preview and while I can find the Starz On Demand programming just fine, I cannot find when the free preview ends. I've googled and I can't even find any existence of the free preview, let alone start and end dates.

Also, can you confirm an anomaly with the movie Careful What You Wish For (2016)? The film shows HD CC SAP but now and in the past I can only ever play it in SD tho I notice it's available Starz Media Buy SD & HD and Starz Free SD. I've never experienced this with any other title.

Actually I lied. Same phenomenon with Wonder Boys (2000).

If this is intentional, I really wonder what the value of a title is when it's only available in standard definition. I realize I can buy it in HD but I figure since I'm already paying $250/month to Comcast I don't really have the budgetary flexibility to be buying anything. I am subscribed to almost every channel available short of premiums like HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc.

PS. I first tried Twitter @comcastcares with the above query. Really? Cares about what? Obviously not training, experience or knowledge of the employees who handle twitter. Certainly not about me or the $3,000 a year I give them for the pleasure of being a customer.

Two twitter responses:

"Thank you for reaching out, On Demand content is provided by the network. Availability, pricing, and broadcast are subject to their discretion. -GR"

I balked and next was:

"The networks control the assets on demand, it is at their discretion. -GR"

I don't have an advanced degree in English but GR just restated a condensed version of reply #1. I told him/her nicely that his canned response ignored most of my questions and to try again, for the record. I didn't really think I was asking about rocket science or for 4 pages of text. Doh!

Noticed the same thing, same day as you. Suddenly I have over 2,000 free movies, so I look at a few, and they  are STARZ. Also tried several times to find out how long the preview will last...no luck. Saw nothing about it in advance either. Asked comcastandrew...maybe will get a response.

Likewise, I have been unable to find definitive information. My WAG (wild-assed guess) is the freeview will run through Sunday the 10th which is the season 3 premiere of Outlander; which seems to be the impetus for STARZ to provide their content.

I think that's a good guess. By the time someone from Comcast says the end date, it'll be over. LOL

Thanks Comcast Cares!

I too noticed this free preview. I Googled it and found nothing else except I saw your question. I wanted to tell you that it goes from 9/4/17-
9/17/17. It's on the preview of the shows. I can't seem to attach a picture.

Thank you for the answer.  I went to the Comcast site and nothing came up when I searched for Starz preview, except, "sorry, no matches" or whatever.  Don't you think Comcast should be more aware when free things are offered which may encourage customers to add a premium service, like Starz????  In the old days, cable companies would advertise free previews.  What happened?  I can't afford premium stations, that's why I appreciate free access.

2muchtv2, you took the words right out of my mouth.

It's been 3 days and still not an official word from anyone. Perhaps 20-30 million customers are too many for them to handle. I can get better, more human sounding, less robotic canned responses from Siri or any of the other virtual assistants.

Those of us living in South Florida have just gone through a hurricane that knocked out cable/internet/phone for a portion of the preview period. Many are still without service. I only learned of the preview yesterday. My service was restored Saturday for a while, then it went off again. It finally came back Saturday evening.

Prior to the hurricane outage, I never saw a notification.

It seems there was no notification or mention or press release or promotion or announcement of the free Starz On Demand Preview anywhere before it began or at the start of the two week freeview except for the card I referenced above on my X1's On Demand home page.
