If you are using a coaxial cable, in most areas the TV should be on channel 03, some areas it should be on channel 04.

If it's a little DTA box, or an old SD TV, and using coax, then use channel 3, as mentioned. For a full cable box, try to use an AV input (the yellow/red/white) cables, usually INPUT1 on many TV's. For HDTV, you'd typically use an HDMI input.
